San Diego State University was originally founded in 1897 under the name 'San Diego Normal School.' It is home to over 34,000 students and is categorized as a research university. The university has 190 study abroad programs, 200+ student life organizations, 50+ Greek life affiliations, and is part of the Mountain West Conference for sports.
